Puppy starting.. A reminder of why the Great Danes from us are so special!

Raising Great Danes is what we do. Tom, myself (Susan) or Thomas is here on the ranch nearly 24/7.  We imprint right away with babies snuggling up around our necks so the human smell is a beloved thing from birth on.

We start ENS days 3-16 and have done this for many years. Early Neurological Stimulation is a series of exercises used by the military and endorsed by the AKC. (See benefits below.) Our babies get scent training (ESI),  starting days 3-16 as well.

Leash training, kennel, doggy door, potty training occur during the remainder of their time with us. Water exposure is included in summertime. Walks to see horse, donkeys, cows, and meet the free range geese, ducks, chickens and noisy guineas are favorite times for these inquisitive little ones.

They live in our home for  3-4 weeks and then move with mom to our puppy house where they have lots of room to play inside and outside on concrete rubber mat covered play areas where jumping on and off the puppy swing quickly becomes a favorite game.

Most puppies are available on a spay/neuter, pet AKC contract. I place only 0-2 pups per litter on full breeding rights to experienced, trusted, established breeders.

What are ENS and ESI for puppies?

Early Neurological stimulation (ENS) and Early scent Introduction (ESI) ENS are simple exercises to which you expose puppies from days 3-16 to help aid their development, resilience and coping mechanisms.

These early puppy stimulation exercises are initiated early when touch and the sense of smell are the pups two main survival mechanisms and can pay off huge dividends as life unfolds.

Benefits of introducing early puppy stimulation exercises

  • Boost brain development

  • Improves circulation and immune system

  • Stimulates the neurological system

  • Improves stress responses in later life

  • Provides personal touch time before they can see and hear.
